Celebrating day!

I envy Ina, as this is the package’s that was waiting for her when she came back from her Spring break. It sure is great to have family at home that will send you whatever you want because you miss the taste of Norway! As you know it’s not long since I got my package from my dad and I have to say that it is great to have such amazing parents that will do anything for their kids. :D

We are celebrating today, as I was successful in my interview at SDS! I am one of their Christmas casual and I am going to work as hard as I can so that I might get to keep the job for the entire 6 months. I am finally getting the life I wanted in Australia, working in a busy retail store that I love, living with the people I love, in a sunny place like Australia! Live is great.

So to celebrate I spent the day in the kitchen, baking a chocolate cake and making dinner for all four of us, now that Ina’s back :D
I'll write soon =)

Ina on spring break

3 days ago Ina went to the Whitsunday’s for her spring break just like I did for mine last year. It’s awesome that she gets to experience the place as it is one of Australia’s amazing attractions. I didn’t think that I was going to miss her as much as I do, after such a short time. The time apart has made me realize how lucky I am to have her here, and how awful it’s going to be when she leaves me!

Best friends living together have its ups and downs, but we like to focus on the fun fun fun fun (looking forward to the weekend). I love living with the people I live with now, and I do not look forward to get another person to take over Ina’s room when she leaves.

So I have decided to celebrate our
friendship when she comes home tonight.
I’m going to make dinner buy alcohol and
bake a cake with the form she gave me last weekend. I have decided that since I don’t know her favourite cake, I am going to make mine! ;) I really look forward to tonight. Love you Ina! <3

I’ll write soon, and I’ll give you an update when I know anything about the job hunting =)

Group Interview

I am attending a group interview tonight at 6PM, my very first group interview. A group interview changes everything and it’s making me very nervous. I usually get the job if I get the interview, but this group interview is changing the rules. Now I have to look my competition in the eyes, and listen to how well they are presenting themselves before it’s my turn. Another thing that’s making me extra nervous is that I really want this job. It’s for a store that sells my favourite Australian surf brands and is they offer enough hours it would be perfect.

I have been thinking of what I would wear, and I had it half way figured out until they emailed me telling me to dress like it’s my first day. I have jeans I can ware (which I purchased at that shop, and I bought a t-shirt from one of the brands they are selling (from a similar shop). I have no idea how good this is but at least I am representing brands they sell in the shop, which is a good thing.

This is what I am wearing today, hope it's ok. Well wish me luck!

I’ll tell you how it went when I get their respond.

Our one year anniversary!

Yesterday was the 25th of September, our anniversary! The day was perfect and it started VERY early! At 5.30 Luke pretended that his alarm had gone off by accident and that he needed some water. When he didn’t come back I started wondering what he was up to. At 5. 45 he texted me “Happy anniversary”, then I knew that he was up to something! I sat up and another text telling me to look at my red dress. He had left a note on the dress telling me to put it on and to look at the note in our cupboard in the kitchen. It said to text him, and he came to pick me up and we drove away from the house at 6AM.
He took me to Kangaroo Point and had planned a Barbie with eggs and bacon while looking at our view. As you probably know Kangaroo Point is where Luke and I had our first kiss the 25th of September 2010. It was a great morning, sunny and not too cold. After the breakfast we went home to watch a movie together, to fall asleep again to a movie on my lap top which we did our first day together last year. It was perfect!

When we woke up again we got a gift from the world’s best friend: Ina!
As you can see on the photo it’s a very romantic card (a big ass card, so celebrate the day) and a non-stick cake form so that I can bake whenever she wants cake! The last part of the gift is chocolate, my favourite thing it the world (one of them). It’s the perfect gift! Tusen takk Ina mor! Utrolig glad I deg!

I gave Luke a mini guitar as a anniversary gift and he took me out for dinner at a great Brazilian restaurant. It was a simple day, but as perfect as it could be!

I’m happy and in love! Write soon..

No to the two first jobs!

I got a phone call from tele comm and I turned down the job because it's not payed per hour and it would be a 6 month contract in a job I don't know what I earn each week.

I'm following my heart on this one, because I want a job that I enjoy, that can offer a hourly payed with enough hours. I am fully aware that I probably not in the position to turn down the first job handed to me, which I have already done. I have said no to two jobs now, and money wise I should have taken one of these jobs, but it is vital for me to be happy with what I am doing even which I wouldn’t be working 10 hours a day with no idea how much I have earned. I am a real retail girl and would love a job within a shop, interacting with customers. And since I got offered two interviews on the same day I decided to aim for a Christmas casual within retail. I had an interview yesterday, and I have two more next week. Really hoping to get one of them! SDS is my favourite shop in Australia and it would be perfect for me to work there if they offer enough hours. Anyway I’ll let you know =)

The phone keeps ringing!

Today I have attended a 3 hour group session at Tacti-call recruitment which includes an aptitude test and customer service test and a group work test. This is so that they can see if I qualify for any of their jobs. I will be getting the result within 3 days, but there is no work guaranteed ASAP.

One Hour after this I attended a first time interview til TSA Tele Comm, for an outbound call, customer service job for Telstra. They will let me know it I was successful tomorrow and if so invite me to a second interview.

When I came home I had a missed call from a beauty shop regarding a retail assistant position for the Christmas season. And I agreed to an interview tomorrow morning.

During the rest of my day I have been thinking what to do and who to go for. And it doesn’t stop here, because I just received an email:
"With over 600 applicants that have applied for this role we are pleased to inform you that you have advanced to our group interview wich."

So the phone keeps calling and I have so many options that I am actually struggling to make a decision. But I'll let you know as soon as I know. =)

The job hunting contiues

I have been using a lot of this weekend to consider whether I should take the job or not. I know it’s a job I would be miserable in, working 10 hour a day where 7 of those are in the sun or in the rain, depending on the weather. The money’s not good and I wouldn’t be able to see Ina and Luke as much as I would like. But on the other side: I would earn money, I don’t have a guarantee for another job, and it would give me something to do every day.

While thinking I went to Surfers Paradise with Ina and Anna. It is a long way to go just to go to the beach, but it’s worth every minute. We were at the beach for over 3 hours and there were no clouds. As I don’t love being too hot while lying in the sun, I bought an umbrella to give me some shade. The waves were amazing and it would be perfect to surf but as I am not in a position to use too much money, we went in without the surfboard jumping in the waves. It was really fun but the waves were strong and we struggled after a little while, so we went out of the water to get some rest. We went to eat at my favourite restaurant “Hard Rock” before we went back home.

And of course the sisters from Vera St! <3

On Sunday Luke and I went to his parents’ house to borrow their pool. And of course I played with little “Honey” most of the time. We went for a walk with her after lunch which was too hot, and I had to go directly in to the pool when we got back! It’s awesome to be able to go there when we want to swim, and I think we’ll be doing it a lot this summer.

Anyway, I have decided not to take the job and I called them back letting them know this morning (Monday). 30 Minutes after I got a phone call from another company wanting me to come in for a group session tomorrow at 9.30. So maybe I’ll be getting a job soon. Anyway, I’ll let you know =)

I got the job

The second day interview went well, and they offered me the job. After the second day interview I finally know what the job is all about. My job would be to knock on people’s door and check it they are in title to money back or % off their power bill. It they are I give them that IF they sign up for the power company I would be representing.

During my second day interview I took a personal note wear comfortable shoes!  The job includes 7 hours of door to door walking, and let’s just say that my feet hurt today!
I’ll be signing with them on Monday and I’ll let you know how it all works out.

My job interview!

So I went to the Vally for my interview this morning, and I had to sit there and wait for an hour before they would interview me. It was 8 other people there, but not all of them were trying out for this job. The interview went good, but it doesn’t work like it does in Norway. Here ( or at least it this business) they take you inn for a second day, where you spend one working day with the firm so that they get to know you better, and so that you would get to know the responsebilities requred for your possision. So I’m going back tomorrow morning, spending the whole day with the firm. Looking forward to that, and going to do my best in order to get the job. It’s a great payed job for this visa and it would challenge me in a good way so that I can improve my skills.

Also today: I got a one missed call from a home number ( which is probably another job). I tried to call back but no answer. And when I went to the shop with Luke around 5PM a man called about an interview tomorrow which I had to turn down because I’m at the observation day with 4 Gen  =)

But all of the sudden it doesn't  look hopeless anymore!I'm gonna get a job within 2 months no matter how this one goes =)

I'll write more tomorrow :D

My awesome day!

As you know I got a package from my dad today. And usually I only write on my blog once a day, but my day was perfect and I want to tell you about it :D

I finally got a job interview. They called me from 4Gen Direct this morning and my interview is tomorrow morning. The lady on the phone told me to wear “office wear” and I told her that was no problem. In reality I didn’t really have anything to wear so I went shopping. I bought a black skirt, a grey skirt and a white shirt. And of course now I can’t decide what skirt to wear! Anyway I got a job interview tomorrow morning and I’m very excited. No idea how it will go but its one step closer to a job.

Another great thing happened to me today. As I was looking for office wear in the city a lady came up to me asking if I wanted free foil (colouring) at Oscar Oscar (one of the best and most expensive hair salon in Brisbane). No one can say no to such a great offer and three hours later my hair looked great! She gave me a “fake” receipt letting me know the price if I wasn’t a hair-model (230 AUS!!!).

When I came home my awesome Luke had made me pizza. My day couldn’t be better!

I’ll keep you updated on the interview tomorrow!
xx

Verdens beste pappa!

I got a package in the mail today! I had been waiting for it since my dad sent it the 29th of August. So it took two weeks to get here, the reason is of course the Australian Quarantine. All packages sent in to Australia will be inspected and the packages with food in it will be opened.
That’s the way the Australian quarantine works, and they put a paper note in the package letting you know that it has been inspected. I have no idea why some people would be stupid enough to try and get some illegal things in, because it would fail! Anyway what I got was Liver Patè, my favourite chocolate and a chees cutter + my rain jacket :D  I didn’t expect to be so happy to see Norwegian food again but it was awesome :D

Tusen takk til Pappa og Synøve som sente denne pakken til meg. Jeg ble kjempe glad og setter stor pris på det. Kjempe glad i dere pegge :D <3

Also: Ina finally got her new bank card! :D

Any jobs out there?

It seems hopeless to get a job here in Australia. I've been looking for only 3 weeks but I'm so impatient and i want one now. I've always been hard working and walking around the house makes me crazy. I've been at several work organizations like Hays, Manpower and such, and most of them can't help me because I don’t have the experience required or I'm on the wrong visa. Hays seem to be able to help but they don't have any work at the moment, so that might help me in the long term.
Anyway, I was walking around the city today and took some photos. These are evidence that I live in a “big” city!

I love tall buildings but what I love most about these photos is the bright blue sky. I love the weather here, every morning I go out in the sun for some minutes just to wake up and realize I’m actually in Australia.

Write soon, xx

Drowned Cities Live

Here's one of their songs from Shed 5:

<3

Drowned Cities

As you already know I went to record Drowned Cities playing live at Shed 5, Gold Coast.

We drove down there with Dan and Nick ( two of Luke’s brothers) and arrived around 8PM. They were second last (which is a good thing), playing at 9.30, or that’s the way it should have been. They ended up playing as the last band at 11.30 PM after a scary devil band that scared some of the crowd away. But when it was Drowned Cities turn, they sounded great and was without doubt the best band of the night (also according to some of the people working there).

I am loving every time I get to se them live, and wouldn’t miss it for the world. I’m gonna come to every gig and record and take photos, but next time I’m getting a better photo camera! Here’s some of the recording:
