Luke's 30th!

It was time to spoil Luke on Saturday 17th August, as he took his first step into his thirties. I decided that you should never forget your thirtieth birthday so I had to have something great up my sleeve. I have been planning this day for months and I was super nervous that he wouldn’t agree to his first surprise of the day; a helicopter lesson.

Photo: Helicopter R22, a two seater that Luke would soon be flying! I videotaped from the ground and there was also a helicopter filming the whole thing from the inside of the helicopter (as you cans see in the photo below.

The second part of the day Luke got to play with his presents; he got an old fashion looking radio with Bluetooth and a Samsung Tab 3 from me and my parents.
Then it was time to drop Wallace off with the in-laws. I told Luke they were babysitting so we don’t have to pick him up before getting home tonight. He got a basket with stuff (wine, chocolates, scratcies etc) from them and we had muffins and tea before we left to the city.
I had booked a nice executive hotel room with an incredible view (level 36 was high enough for me), and Luke was pretty surprised as he thought we were hanging at a mates house for the afternoon.  Instead we hung out with them at the hotel (they were staying there too), before we left to the Bavarian Bier Cafe for his birthday dinner.

I had organised for a friend of mine to bake a Peter Griffin Cake (from Family Guy, Luke’s favourite TV show). He got some more presents and we had heaps of fun for the nest of the night.

Success!

So we have been having some mini projects on as we are saving to fix our retaining wall and fence. The first thing we have done (Luke has done) is to install door handles! We can finally close the doors, and even lock the master bedroom and bathroom.

The second thing is fixing up some chairs we got from friends of ours. 3 of them were broken, and the  seat cover of the ok once needed to be replaced. It is hard to see in the pictures but the below chair in beige were changed to the blue one. Looks great in real life, not so much on the photos :P

Third project we have done was removing the sheets and blankets that we used to cover the windows and install blinds. They are dark grey and although they need to be ironed I reckon it looks good.

Now I can't wait to replace the horrible front door (just after we have fixed the fence, should be before Xmas :)

YAAAY I finally have a temporary residency in Australia, after waiting almost 15 months!
To celebrate Luke took me out to eat at a lovely restaurant in the City and he bought me a little gift too. Now every day I use my new leather handbag I will be thinking of the day I was granted a temporary residence for Australia. Happy days :D

Wallace Young

Just thought I'd show you how our little West Highland Terrier personality is.

The first thing I would like to share is his weird obsession with Luke when Luke is in the kitchen.
On the photo you can see Luke making dinner, and Wallace is as always placed on Luke's feet!
Wallace can sit there as long as it takes until the dinner is done. How funny is that?

The second one is Wallace's passion for TV. He watches quite a bit of TV and his favourite obviously watching all the animals, although he also seem to love Rugby <3. Here he is watching the movie Red Dog, he watched about half until he fell asleep as it was past his bedtime (yeah he does have a bed time).

Anyway house photos coming up soon, promise :)

Not all perfect

I wake up incredibly happy every day, I got the most amazing husband who brings me flowers when I least expects it. We have a rear bond where no words are needed for us to communicate exactly how we feel. I have the most supporting Family who keeps supporting me and my decisions all the way from the other side of the world. A family so great they all came to Australia for our wedding. I have found great friendships in Australia, friends that I can come to with anything on my heart. And I know I can count on my in-laws if something ever goes wrong. My life is pretty great, but there are some down sides too.
I miss my amazing friends back home, I miss the ability to visit my family whenever I want, and I miss the culture and nature I grew up in.
I am writing today as I needed to reflect upon my life, as it is very frustrating not to have the certainty of a permanent visa. I am missing the safe feeling of belonging at the place that I live. Australia can send me back to Norway at any stage, although it is not likely they still have the power to do so. It has now been more than 14 months ago since we applied for my Visa, and it is unfair. It is unfair as I know people applied for the same visa last month and got theirs after 10 days. Their situation might be different to ours, but we are married, we have a house and dog and I would love to get the confirmatory from them that I do belong here, that I am welcome and that they will not send me home (to make us fight even harder for our love)
I will write soon, and see if I can get some more photos of the house (need to find my camera cord again)

Wallace's blog?

Just thought I'd share this picture with you! I seem to have the same problem with Wallace as I did with Dollie; they both want to steal my laptop! Whenever I have my laptop on my lap Wallace will try and either close it or stand on the letters. Sometimes he even tries to catch my fingers as I type, so funny!
He is looking pretty good with his new hair cut too :D

Me on our wedding day.

I had chosen to do my own makeup and hair, but was practically told that I was not allowed to. I am so glad my mum pushed me to hire professionals to make me pretty on the day. It was very luxurious waking up at 6a.m. with no pressure to get ready. The hair and makeup people came over at 10 a.m and we were done at 1.30p.m. It took a long time, but they did all of my 3 bridesmaids and myself in this timeframe. My three bridesmaid looked amazing and I felt very pretty my self. Below are some photos taken of me on our wedding day.

I am sorry for the long wait for an update and new photos. Unfortunately we have not had any internet since we moved into our new house. Well that changed today as we are now finally connected to the internet. I received the wedding photos not too long ago, and as there are so many I have chosen to post the photos over several posts. Today I have chosen photos of Luke and I on out big day.  We had the most amazing wedding and appreciate all the attention we got on the day. I have the greatest family and friends in the world and I feel so lucky!

Wedding Music

Hi All.

No photos of the house until next week, so I figured I could post a music video of the song I am going to walk down the Isle to. I would pay as much as I could to have him play it in our wedding, but as I am not rich I'll just play it from a CD :)

Wallace the dog

Hi folks.

Mum wanted a new photo of Wallace, as he has grown a fear bit since two months ago.

One of him the week after we brought him home, isn't he the smallest litle puppy!

One of him sleeping, a few weeks ago:

The below shows him from last week. Hi is standing on a bucket to reach the top of the table in order to check out what I am doing. Cutest ever!

Sunday, 10 February 2013

We have been working a minimum of 5 hours every Saturday and Sunday for a few weeks now, and it is starting to be very exhausting. Now that I have my camera cord I will keep you updated every weekend.

This weekend Luke finally started tiling the floors! Heres a photo of him in action :D

This is his final resault for this weekend, nott to bad for the first time ever at floor tiling. (It's pretty flat and good too)

I have painted the second coat on the walles (on pic above) and it turns out it will need a 3rd coat. Dark purple isn't the easiest colour to cover when you want it white! I also painted one coat in the hall way, used a heat gun to remove the old paint on the door frames, and sanded it + sanded the skirting in the third bedroom. I also scraped off a lof of the paint in the ceeling, as the old was dry and cracked.

I'll write soon, Xx

More house photos

Hey Guys.

So it's finally time for the todays photos of the house, and on Monday some of the floor tiles will be in place, and an update will follow on the blog :)

Not sure if you got to see the last picture of our bedroom the way it is at the moment.

Second is a photo taken when I stand in the kitchen, looking towards the living room through the open door (Old Archway).

The forth photo is taken of out kitchen, standing in the old archway.

Our shower and Luke's first ever tiling jobs, I think it turned out real good!

Write soon! Xx
