Work update

I have been working a lot since I wrote last. I started with two shifts each week and this week I only had one shift. I came on Monday and the Manager gave me an 8 hour shift for Tuesday. When I came on Tuesday he gave me a shift the day after. Today is Thursday and I just came home from my 4th shift this week. It’s awesome that I am able to work more than the other Christmas casuals, because I really need it. I also get treated a bit differently, like a normal casual, because I am older than the other Christmas casuals, and because I have experience and know what I am doing. I really enjoy working there and I would love getting a permanent position which they have for after Christmas.  Unfortunately I don’t thing I can get it because of my Visa. Wish I was on a different visa.

Write Soon :D

  1. Hi Helene, To bad about your Visa, I guess you can't change it though. I had a feeling they were gonna work you more than you thought. Experience always makes a difference. When we lived in N. Carolina years ago I had a two day a week part time job, it was a small town so I was lucky to get that.I also got extra time when they needed me. And when we moved back to Florida, my Aunt and I went to apply for full time jobs at a big department store. I figured they would hire her and not me but it was the other way around. She had worked in a doctor's office with know retail experience and thank's to my 2day a week job at a blue jean store, I was hired right a way. So you never know.Anyway, I'm glad you are getting more time in, it never hurts around the holidays. Wish I could be on my feet more, I'd get a part time job for Christmas but I just can't do it anymore. Hope you have a great weekend, talk to you soon, say Hello to Luke. Love, Judy

  2. Yes, it is amazing what a little experience can do for you. I love that I can use SDS as an reference for when I am seeking a new job in Australia. They would be a retail experience but at least they are in the same country as it’s not many employers that would call Norway for reference. I sadden me that you’re not able to do what you want anymore, but remember to do what you want when you can. =) I’ll have a great weekend! If we’re able to pick up Luke’s new car we’ll got to Australia Zoo at Sunshine Coast:D
Luke say’s hello back =) talk soon
