I was thinking of writing on my way down here, but I decided to write everything when I got to Australia. The reason is that I was too tired to write anything on my trip down under.
Day 1:
My dad and synøve drove me to the airport, we left the house 3.45 AM, and I was brightly awake. After checking in my bag in the airport we sat down for a while, before we said goodbye. After the security control I waved goodbye and went to buy chocolate for Ina in the tax free shop. After that I went to sit in the gate and waited for boarding. The trip to Munich didn’t take long; I think it was around 2 hours. In Munich I had to get new boarding passes, because I was changing airline for the rest of the trip.
When I came on the plane I sat down next to a woman in her 40’s from Abu Dhabi, we talked for a little while and she told me that she was traveling with her mother and son. They didn’t sit together and I insisted on changing seats with her son so that they could sit together, and so we did. The woman was very grateful but I told her that it was my pleasure. I didn’t mind at all, I was traveling alone and would appreciate if someone did the same for me if I was traveling with someone else. The flight took 6 hours or so and I had to stand in long lines for passport control, and just before it was my turn the family I had swopped seats with came in front of me. The woman I had talked to earlier said sorry but I told her it was no problem. The reason they went in front of the line was her mother in a wheelchair, and they always come first. We talked for a moment and they moved on to the bag control. When I was through security the woman came running up to me with a note, she told me that it was her phone number, and that I was to call if I needed anything during my stay in Abu Dhabi. I really appreciated it and I love it when I meet so kind people in the world. I walked out and a man stood there with my name on it, he took me to the car and drove me to the hotel. At the hotel I ordered room service and Skyped with my mum. I missed her already, and it was great talking to her again before I fell asleep.
Day 2:
I had ordered a private driver to take me back to the airport the next morning, and a wakeup call at 7 AM. I had a hot shower and was ready to leave. I had a long trip in front of me, including a night flight because of the time difference. I checked in to Brisbane, but the flight had an hour stop in Singapore. After boarding the flight I was happy to see that I had two available seats next to me, which meant that I could lay down and sleep. Before departure I overheard the man ask the crew if they had 3 available seats so that he could sit next to his wife and daughter. I told them about the available seats and offered to change seats with them. I realized I had to give up my sleeping opportunity but I got to sit next to the window with one available seat next to me. I tried to sleep and together I think I slept for about 3 hours on the 15 hour long flight. I watched movies, and listened to music, but that wasn’t the reason that I couldn’t sleep. I was just so excited that I was surprising Luke and that I got to see Ina again that it kept me up. 2 Hours before arrival I couldn’t sit still, and I had no idea where to go. I walked around the plane and sat down again, but I didn’t find a comfortable way to sit and before I knew it we started our landing in Brisbane. I was finally at my arrival destination!
