I hope you all had a great Christmas! I had a very different Christmas this year with Luke’s family.
I fell in love with an Australian, moved there from Norway in 2011. We got married, bought a house and a dog. Now we travel the world together, one country at the time.

Christmas mood
We are starting to get into the Christmas mood, or I am anyway! We went to a Christmas warehouse, and bought some stuff for our home. First thing’s first, our stockings!
We also bought some Christmas tree decorations for our small tree in the living room. It looks good, right?
I baked a gingerbread Christmas tree and decorated that as well ( er ordentlig pepperkake med oppskrift fra matprat (de har ikke pepper I gingerbread så det er ikke det samme)! Isn’t it kind of cool though?
I was also at SDS Christmas party the other day, and it was a lot of FUN! :D It was an Asian restaurant, and I actually liked the food, creamy chicken. Was working the day after so went home pretty early, but I didn't really mind :P
Write soon! :D

FOO FIGHTERS
The band that needs no introduction!
Luke and I went seeing them yesterday at the Gold Coast (finally, as you might know I missed out on them in Norway in June)! (I found my cord so here’s some photos! :D )
The proof og us being there:
And finally I was wearing Ina’s shoes, one of the bunch she left behind as she left Australia earlier that day! So now I don’t have any Norwegian friends left here, just Luke and I. Ina will be missed! <3 Savner deg mega masse, du er herlig! Utrolig glad I deg! <3

life
Sorry for not writing in a while, but I can’t find my camera cord, and posts without photos just aren’t as fun to public. But heaps have happened since I skydived, mostly work though. I work full days (8,5hrs) 4 to 5 times a week. I have been working every weekend for 3 or 4 weeks, leaving barely anytime for me and Luke to do something. But we manage to do something after work, mostly just making a good dinner and renting a movie, or visit some friends. Ina has been to Sydney for a week, and we are having tacos together as soon as she gets back. She leaves on Saturday, but Foo Fighters is playing at the Gold Coast that day so I can’t complain. I’m going to miss her heaps but I still love my life down here, and I wouldn’t move for the world.
Also I got a Christmas present from my Grandpa and Nina, which is safely placed underneath our undecorated tree. We’ll by some decorations next week and I’ll find my camera cord so that you can see it when it’s done. I also got a Christmas card from them with a photo from back home, which is placed on our fridge for me to see them at any time :D
I’ll write soon. Just need to find that cord.

Christmas thoughts.
This year will be my first Christmas without my family. It is also the first Christmas in around 40 degrees, instead of -24. There’s going to be no snow, no blanket necessary to go outside to get the cold drink you left to cool down on the veranda. Instead it’s going to be a big Barbie where you don’t want to do anything than sitting somewhere close to a fan or aircon. It’s also going to be a different date of celebration as we open gifts on the 24th back home. I am also going to be working for most of the time but I think I might request the 24th off (as SDS are open till midnight this day)It’s a bit challenging to be happy about all these changes on my favourite time of the year (as I am very childish when it comes to Christmas eve). I need to focus on the good side in order to make this a great Christmas. It has taken a while to adjust to the thought, but I am starting to be happy about celebrating with my awesome boyfriend. We can start our own Christmas tradition now, just like we want it. He realized this way before me and he got us a Christmas tree already, but for him it’s just another normal Christmas, only I’ll be there with him.
Just needed to get some thoughts out there. Write soon! :D

Gold Coast thursday!
I had a great day off from work yesterday! Ina and I woke up early, as we always doo, and went down to the Gold Coast. We bought some snacks (fruit and nuts) and water before we headed to the beach. It didn’t take long until we were in the water, where we stayed and jumped the waves for more than an hour. After lying in the sun for some time after that we went for a second swim before we left the beach. Ina was of course reading to her exam (today). The weather was perfect, not too hot and a little cloudy. We went shopping and bought cheap food at Wollies which the beards really wanted as they attached us while we were eating with a great beach view. Luke came down to the Coast around 6PM as they had a gig at 8. They played alright, but they have had better gigs as the sound guy was having trouble.
I can't find my camera so no photos today.

Australia Zoo
I love the new car Luke bought for us :D It’s a Ford falcon 10/2006 model, WITH air con. It’s charcoal grey, and it looks really awesome. Don’t you think? Ina, Luke and I traveled up to Sunshine Coast to visit Australia Zoo! We took heaps of photos, and underneath you will see some of them.
I love Koalas and here is my favourite from this Zoo visit!
Ina, Luke and I having fun, fun, fun!
I couldn’t stop Ina from taking photos of every Australian Snake, but I can’t post all of them as they are so many different ones. So here some of the snakes I might run into in Brisbane, perhaps on my way to work? I’ve also heard stories where they find snakes in their bathtubs and toilets, hopefully I’ll never experience that!
Ever heard of the crocodile hunter team? Well as you can see on this photo Ina and I stand by our car after catching the croc on the photo :P
Catch you later alligator.
Oh lazy days! :D

Work update
I have been working a lot since I wrote last. I started with two shifts each week and this week I only had one shift. I came on Monday and the Manager gave me an 8 hour shift for Tuesday. When I came on Tuesday he gave me a shift the day after. Today is Thursday and I just came home from my 4th shift this week. It’s awesome that I am able to work more than the other Christmas casuals, because I really need it. I also get treated a bit differently, like a normal casual, because I am older than the other Christmas casuals, and because I have experience and know what I am doing. I really enjoy working there and I would love getting a permanent position which they have for after Christmas. Unfortunately I don’t thing I can get it because of my Visa. Write Soon :D

Wrong Visa?
Nothing much is new here in Brisbane. Working two times a week, until the last week of November where I get 4 shifts a week. Love working at SDS and I am starting to get the hang of retail again. Just wish it was a full time position, which is hard to get on this Visa. I’m not too happy about being on this visa, as it’s not really a Visa for my situation. There are a lot of down sides with being on the “wrong” type of visa but it does give me the greatest benefit of all, It allows me to be with Luke so I shouldn’t complain too much.
Ina has decided to go home earlier and she will now be leaving the 10 of December. That’s one month from now (approximately). Not really happy about it, but I can control what she wants. As she leaves we need to find a new person to move in to her room, as we can’t afford paying for her part of the rent. Don’t really want to live with a stranger, but we’ll probably adjust to it.
Write soon! xx

My Saturday
I had a lot of fun this weekend, and it’s not over yet. We are thinking of using the free cinema tickets tonight, but I have no idea what to watch. Not too many good movies at the cinemas lately so we’ll see. Anyway Friday: Halloween, I loved dressing up as an emo Angel of death! Definitely dressing up as something dark next year as well!

First day at work!
I really enjoyed my first day at work today! It went great and I think I made a good impression on the Store Manager. I am confident in what I am doing, I ask if there’s something I’m wondering about and I always smile and focus on the costumer. Didn’t really have any sales but as my first day this was not required of me anyway. I only worked for 4 hr and the manager gave me 4 other shift for the next two weeks, which is a good start. I really love working within retail and hope I can keep the job after January.
Also Luke and I won a competition we automatically entered when we opened our shared bank account. We won two cinema tickets a month for 12 months! Luke and I appreciate a good movie and we are in the cinema quit often, so this will save us some money! Awesome! First thing we have won, ever!
We are planning a Halloween Party for this Friday, so I bought some decorations today. Astrid is coming over tomorrow with some more decorations (which we get to borrow for a day :D )The photos are at the snack Ina and I will be making. I’ll take heaps of photos at the party keeping you posted! :D

Loss of a family member.
It’s in time of grieve you understand how much you love and need your family, and in my case when I realize how far away they really are. I want nothing more than to be there right now. I sure am lucky though, to have such an understanding boyfriend to help me through it all. True love.

Different things =)
Having a small pool on our veranda is great. I have only used it 2 times, but I love having the opportunity to cool down in the sun. Ina and I spend several hours in there one day, drinking “grownup soda” and listening to music. It was a great day but I did end up with a sunburn :P
Since I got the job at SDS I haven’t been looking for one, meaning I have had very little to do. Ina stayed home from school some days and we watched Family Guy most of the time. It’s great when we are home alone, because we can do whatever we want to and we enjoy each other’s company :D I am really not looking forward to the 22th of Des when Ina leaves…
I also made a new healthy and colourful dish for Luke and me. It is chicken with potato, vegetables and chutney, and it tasted great. It is definitely one of our new recipes for our cooking book. Food doesn’t get better than healthy and delicious!
I had to buy a new phone yesterday, because mine wouldn’t charge anymore. I didn’t want to use a lot of money on one, as I don’t have much left so I went to Cash Converters and bought a used one. It works great and I am very happy with it, although I did like my old one (also my dad’s old one). Anyway my new one is a HTC LEGEND from last year =)
